Bone marrow cancer is actually the metastatic condition from the other cancers, because the basic bone cancer is very rare. You should know that there are two kinds of abnormal cells, the first one is benign and the last one is malignant. Benign cells are the abnormal cells yet they do not grow and spread quickly and attack the normal cells. This is what is called as tumor. Keep in mind that not all of tumor cells are cancerous. Malignant cells are the cancerous ones. This is the dangerous cell that will attack your normal cell and affect the part of your body that is attacked, in this case, bone.
Bone Marrow Cancer Symptoms
When it comes to bone marrow cancer symptoms, the common sign you can find in bone marrow cancer is the pain. In fact, the pain will gradually increase as the grade of the cancer increases. The pain you feel may come in a certain time only, for example, during the night or when you do the activities. The pain also depends on the cells growth. It means that it can attack in weeks, months, or even years. You may also feel the lump in the certain area of your bone. Yet, this is often confused with bone tumor. The cells can also weaken the affected bone. If the tumor has pressed the nerve, then you can feel the pain. The less common symptoms are weight loss, chill, and fever.
Bone Marrow Cancer Causes
For the bone marrow cancer causes, it happens in the bone cells. Keep in mind that bone marrow cancer usually happens in children or teenager. It is a very rare case of bone cancer that happens in an adult. As stated before, this kind of cancer is metastatic. It means this can be caused by the other medical conditions. The medical conditions that may lead to bone cancer are Ewing’s sarcoma, fibrosarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, chordoma, and osteocarcoma. Moreover, you should also know that there are the numerous types of bone tumors, that can be potential to be cancerous, yet they are not cancerous.
For the treatment, you should know that it depends on the stage of bone marrow cancer. If it still in the stage 1 or stage 2, the cells are still in the same area and not yet spread. Surgery may be the best choice for the treatment.
However, if it is in the higher stage, like stage 3 or 4, then radiation and chemotherapy is the best choice since you need to kill the cancerous cells that have spread to the other areas in your body. It is the doctor to determine which treatment that is useful for you in the case of bone marrow cancer.
